St, Petersburg, FL – May 11, 2009 – Grand ISS today announced the appointment of retired Army Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré, as Chairman with effect from February 2009.  “We are very proud to have the General, an American icon, at the helm to help us achieve our targeted objectives at home and abroad,” said Grand ISS CEO, Ralph V. During his 37-year Army career, General Honoré was responsible for overseeing the training and deployment of more than 500,000 military members from all Services which comprised the largest military deployment since World War II.  He also had command of Joint Task Force-Katrina in which he led the Department of Defense response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and directed the operations of over 22,000 Service members, 200 aircraft, and 20 ships.   The General continues to lecture nationally on the operations and lessons of these hurricanes.  His new book, “Survival,” was recently released.  While a memoir about Hurricane Katrina, the book also encourages readers to work toward a culture of preparedness as a new way of thinking to help improve planning for future disasters and better organize post recovery management.
